Henry Clay standout Samuel Simpson made Solid Blue fans very happy on Tuesday when he committed the University of Kentucky. Simpson said he made his final decision over the weekend while on a trip with his family, "This weekend, I just sat down and looked at all the schools, and made my choice." Simpson's father, Sam, who is the head football coach at Henry Clay is an alum of the UK football program. The younger Simpson says even though that was a little bit of a factor in his final decision, it wasn't the reason he chose the Cats. "He would have understood and been proud of me if I had chosen I different school, but I really bonded with the coaches, especially coach (Chuck) Smith, he was the one who recruited me", added Samuel. Simpson, who's 6'5" and 260 pounds, is one of the top rated centers in the county. He will join former Henry Clay teammate Aaron Boyd at Kentucky. |
