Former Knox County Judge-Executive Raymond C. Smith has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty to mail fraud.
Smith, 45, of Corbin, was sentenced Tuesday at the federal courthouse in London. He pleaded guilty in March.
U.S. District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove also ordered Smith to pay $110,000 in restitution for his part in a scheme to award construction contracts to firms controlled by his family while Smith was judge-executive from 2002 to 2006.
