Overnight Fire Injures Two
Wednesday, 20 August 2008 03:31

Two people are injured, following an overnight fire in east Lexington.

The fire broke out around 1am on Ashton Drive, off Winchester Road.  Firefighters say the fire started in a shed toward the back of the homes, causing three separate structure fires at once.

Firefighters say people were still in one of the homes when they arrived.  Firefighters had to wake the people up and get them out of the house.  A firefighter fell from the roof of one of the houses, but was not seriously injured.  One person inside a home had to be treated for smoke inhalation.  Crews also say that several dogs were rescued from the homes, two died in the fire.  Both families that lived in the homes are now forced to look for new places to stay.

An arson investigator is being called in as standard procedure, but crews say that the fire does not look suspicious.
